Mary Washington & York Stun Top Seeds; Advance to CAC Women's Soccer Championship

The 2019 CAC Women's Soccer Tournament Championship matchup is finalized and will feature #3 Mary Washington hosting #4 York on Saturday, Nov. 9th at 2 p.m. in Fredericksburg. UMW will have its sights set on their 14th league title, while York attempt to capture their fourth conference crown.

York went on the road Wednesday afternoon, fell behind 1-0 in the early minutes of the contest, and picked up a pair of second half goals to shock the #1 seed Salisbury to earn a berth in the CAC title match. Georgia Gillcrist scored the unassisted equalizer in the 50th minute before Ryan Hussey recorded the game-winning goal in the 79th minute on an assist from Moriah Morton. York prevailed despite being outshot by a 14-4 margin.

In the nightcap, Mary Washington pulled another upset and took down #2 and #7 nationally-ranked Christopher Newport on the road by a 1-0 margin. Brooke Bauman scored the lone goal of the contest in the 73rd minute on a helper from Corinne Carson - a one timer off a crossing pass from the right to give the Eagles the lead which they never gave up. UMW outshot CNU 11-1 in the second half and 15-9 overall in the match.
