CNU's Cook & Salisbury's Hill Collect CAC Weekly Honors for Fourth Time Each This Season

CAC -- The Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) has announced its weekly awards following the ninth week of the 2019 women's soccer season. Christopher Newport junior forward Riley Cook earned CAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades for the fourth time this season, while Salisbury junior goalkeeper Emma Hill also claimed CAC Defensive Player of the Week honors for the fourth time this year.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Riley Cook - Christopher Newport

Christopher Newport junior forward Riley Cook scored five more goals this week including her third four-goal performance of the season while adding an assist. Notched both game-winning goals as the nationally-ranked Captains improved to 15-1-2 overall. She factored into all five goals at Southern Virginia to set a program record for scoring with 9 points in a game. Cook now has 55 points on the season, just one shy of her 2018 program record 56-point season, and broke her own single season record for goals scored with 26. Her 11 points this week came after putting nine of her 17 total shots on frame for a .529 SOG%.


DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Emma Hill - Salisbury

Salisbury junior goalkeeper Emma Hill earned two victories in goal last week to push Salisbury's unbeaten streak to 13 games and earn their 11th clean sheet of the season. Hill tallied nine saves in a 1-0 overtime win on Wednesday over Mary Washington.

York junior goalkeeper Cat McCarty recorded her second career shutout in the Spartans 1-0 win over St. Mary's on Wednesday...Junior Erin Baier notched the game-winning goal in the Spartans' 1-0 victory over St. Mary's on...Goalkeeper Haley Eiser continues to lead the Christopher Newport defense in a record-breaking campaign, setting a new standard for a season with 13 shutouts. Adding two this week to break the record, the Captains defense held Southern Virginia and York without a score for 180 minutes. The defense allowed just eight total shots in the two games and Eiser made four saves to secure the clean sheets. She improved to 15-1-2, ranking 5th all-time in wins in a season and shutouts with 8...Katherine Brady provided the game winner as Mary Washington defeated St. Mary's, 2-0, on Saturday...Salisbury senior defender Jenna Beck tallied a pair of goals in the first five minutes of her final regular season game at home to help the Sea Gulls defeat Southern Virginia 6-0 and extend their unbeaten streak to 13 games.
