CNU's Talotta & Eiser Sweep CAC Women's Soccer POW Awards

CAC -- The Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) has announced its weekly awards following the second week of the 2019 women's soccer season. Christopher Newport sophomore midfielder Emily Talotta earned CAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades, while Christopher Newport junior goalkeeper Haley Eiser claimed CAC Defensive Player of the Week honors.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Emily Talotta - Christopher Newport

Christopher Newport sophomore midfielder Emily Talotta scored the game-winning goal against Virginia Wesleyan in double overtime on Tuesday. She also assisted on game-tying goal against Dickinson which ended in a 1-1 tie on Sunday. Talotta led team with eight shots including four on frame.


DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Haley Eiser - Christopher Newport

Christopher Newport junior goalkeeper Haley Eiser played all 305-plus minutes in goal for the Captains allowing just one goal and making 18 saves to go 2-0-1. Eiser earned a pair of shutouts against Virginia Wesleyan and Emory. She made a game-saving save against Dickinson in double overtime with a diving save to the corner that denied the Red Devils the game-winning goal.

OFFENSE: Emmey German (SMC), Anna Morton (YCP)

DEFENSE: Jo Nicholson (YCP), Aly Holden (UMW), Emma Hill (SAL)


LEAGUE NOTES

Emmey German led St. Mary's on the offensive end to a 2-1 victory over Stevenson on Saturday night. German took full advantage of a penalty kick late in the game and recorded the game-winner...Aly Holden came on in relief of Mary Washington's 3-2 loss to Washington & Lee, making two saves without allowing a score, and then provided five stops in a 1-0 double overtime loss to Bridgewater on Sunday...Emma Hill made six saves in two games at the Arcadia Invitational for Salisbury.
