Gillis scored five of CNU's eight goals last week, including both game-winners, while also adding an assist. CNU's first-ever first team All-American last season, Gillis has picked up right where she left off with a dominating 11-point performance in the two-game week, helping the 17th-ranked Captains open with wins over ninth-ranked Wisconsin-La Crosse and Saint Benedict at the Atlantic Orthopedics Tournament hosted by Virginia Wesleyan University. Gillis opened with both scores in a 2-1 win over Wisconsin-La Crosse, and tallied three goals and an assist in a 5-0 win over Saint Benedict. With last week's performance, she moved to ninth in CNU history in career points, eighth in goals, and tied for eighth in game-winning goals.

Joseph started the season with a flourish for Mary Washington, scoring both Eagle goals in a 2-2 tie against Houghton in the season opener, and adding two more goals on Sunday in an 8-0 Eagle win at Elmira. She has scored on all four of her shot attempts on the season.

Smedley scored her first career goal in the fouth minute of the Lions' 2-0 win over Delaware Valley. 

Ellie Marts | St. Mary's | So. | GK
In her first career start, Ellie Marts picked up six saves in holding 2017 NCAA Tournament participant, McDaniel, to just one goal as St. Mary's opened up 2018 with two tough losses.

Julie Venere | Salisbury | Jr. | M/D
Venere scored the second of two goals in the Sea Gulls' opening day win over Salem on Friday afternoon and leads the team with three shots through the first two games of the season.

Ryan Hussey | York | Jr. | D
Hussey had a career day in the win with a natural hat trick in a victory over Alvernia on Sunday. She scored in the 33rd, 52nd and 62nd minutes to finish the game with three goals on just three shots. The three goals ties her for second on York's single-game scoring list and her six points are tied for the ninth-highest total in school history.
