St. Mary's seniors Melissa Barall and Benjamin Ertman and Frostburg State junior Maddie Weinberger have been named to the 2017-18 Google Cloud Academic All-America A-Large Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Barall was a first team selection, Ertman landed on the second team, and Weinberger collected third team honors.

Frostburg State senior Macey Nitchie, Mary Washington freshman Claudia Keller, and UMW head coach Abby Brethauer claimed major awards to lead the 2018 All-CAC Women's Swimming team.

The Mary Washington women's swimming kept its record winning streak at the CAC Championships intact on Sunday at St. Mary's, compiling 913 points to claim its 28th consecutive title. The Eagles are the only team have ever won the title in the 28-year history of the CAC, the only team across all conference sports to hold such a streak.

The 2018 CAC Swimming Championships will kick off on Thursday evening on the campus of St. Mary's in St. Mary's City, Md. The four-day event will open with the 800 freestyle relays in Thursday's evening's session, beginning at 6 p.m. Action continues with two sessions per day through Sunday afternoon, Feb. 25.

York sophomore Justine Wantz claimed CAC Athlete of the Week accolades for the third time this year after recording the top time in the nation in the 100 backstroke by more than a second against Mary Washington on Saturday. Wantz raced to an NCAA 'A' cut time of 53.79 to earn gold in the 100 backstroke, which ranks 1.22 seconds ahead of the second-fastest time nationally (55.01). She also won the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:09.55.

Mary Washington senior Megan Murphy collected CAC Athlete of the Week accolades for the third time this year after leading the Eagles to a 150-112 win over Gettysburg on Saturday. Murphy won the 200 yard butterfly at 2:09.90, and then won the 200 IM at 2:12.05 after competing on the winning 200 yard medley relay.

Marymount sophomore Hayley Elizondo earned CAC Athlete of the Week accolades after collecting four first-place finishes and one second-place mark in her five individual races last week. Against Mary Washington, Elizondo placed first in the 200 breaststroke (2:29.67), 100 individual medley (1:02.62), and took second in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.00). Her 100 IM time ranks first in the CAC and 38th nationally. In a victory over Salisbury on Saturday, she posted victories in the 50 freestyle (28.84), 100 breaststroke (1:16.62) and the 200 medley relay (2:11.93).

York sophomore Justine Wantz received CAC Athlete of the Week accolades for the second time this season after leading the Spartans to a 148-106 victory over Randolph-Macon with a trio of wins. Wantz won the 100 and 200 backstrokes and also swam the leadoff leg on the winning 200 medley relay team. She won the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:01.41 and the 200 at 2:11.68. Wantz leads the Spartan squad with nine individual wins. She owns the top times in the CAC in both events.

Frostburg State senior Macey Nitchie was selected as the CAC Athlete of the Week for the third consecutive week after setting five school records, recording an NCAA B-Cut time and two of the top times in Division III at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational. She won the 200-yard freestyle in a school record and NCAA B-Cut time of 1:52.45. She also finished runner-up and set another school record in the 100-yard freestyle in 52.06, Nitchie captured her third individual school record in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:17.36. She also contributed to a pair of relay school records, helping the 800-yard freestyle team to a time of 8:12.14 and the 400-yard freestyle relay to a mark of 3:42.65.

Frostburg State senior Macey Nitchie was selected as the CAC Athlete of the Week for the second week in a row after sweeping her individual events against St. Mary's with wins in the 50, 100 and 500-yard freestyles. Nitchie, who is a perfect 17-for-17 in individual wins this season, finished first in the 50 (24.83), 100 (53.79) and 500-yard freestyles (5:26.20) for the Bobcats. She also contributed to a win in the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:56.47.

Frostburg State senior Macey Nitchie was tabbed as the CAC Athlete of the Week after sweeping her three individual events and helping the Bobcats collect their first-ever win over Salisbury in CAC action. Nitchie placed first in three freestyle events - the 50 (28.67), 100 (1:02.39) and 800-meters (10:06.99) and helped the 400-meter freestyle relay to a victory. On the season, Nitchie is a perfect 14-of-14 in individual events.

Mary Washington senior Megan Murphy was honored as the CAC Athlete of the Week after winning eight races in two Eagle victories over the weekend. On Friday at Frostburg State, she was a member of the winning 200 meter medley relay and 200 meter free relay. Individually, she took first in the 100 meter butterfly at 1:06.24 as well as the 400 freestyle at 4:46.96, as UMW topped Frostburg, Ferrum, and Roanoke. On Saturday, Murphy won two more relays and two more individual races as the Eagles defeated Division II Barton College. She was a member of the winning 200 yard medley and freestyle relays, and won the 200 butterfly as the Eagles finished 1-2-3 in the event. Murphy then won the 100 freestyle at 54.21. Murphy's 200 butterfly time ranks 12th nationally, while her 100 freestyle time ranks 31st.

York sophomore Justine Wantz earned CAC Athlete of the Week honors after earning a pair of individual wins and breaking a school record in the Spartans' sweep of Messiah and Franklin & Marshall on Saturday. Wantz won the 100 backstroke with a time of 59.83, which established a new school record during the first competition of the year. She also won the 50 backstroke with a time of 28.21. Wantz was also a part of the 200 medley relay squad that finished second in the race. Her 50 and 100 backstroke times rank atop the CAC and 23rd and 24th nationally, respectively.

Mary Washington was once again the unanimous choice among conference head coaches to claim the CAC title in the 2017-18 CAC Women's Swimming Preseason Poll. The Eagles enter the campaign with a 27-year winning streak atop the conference, and are the only team across all CAC sports to have won the team title in each of the 27 years of the CAC’s existence.
