AUSTIN, Texas – Frostburg swimmer Maddie Weinberger captured her second-consecutive Google Cloud Academic All-American award on Wednesday when she was named to the 2018-19 Division III Women's At-Large Second Team as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Weinberger, a third-team honoree a year ago, graduated from Frostburg this past May with her bachelor's degree in athletic training. She is one of 49 student-athletes named to the three Academic All-America teams and she is one of 19 student-athletes with a perfect 4.00 GPA.

An Ellicott City, Md. native, Weinberger carried a perfect 4.00 GPA throughout her four years, was an eight-time Dean's List student and was Frostburg's NCAA Woman of the Year honoree in early June.

A four-time Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) All-Academic honoree, Weinberger capped her career in the pool with five All-CAC medals, including two gold medals. Over her four seasons as a Bobcat, she earned 81 individual wins and 24 relay wins.

As a senior, Weinberger collected 13 wins, two school records and garnered Second Team All-CAC honors after finishing runner-up in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.92) at the league championships.

As a junior, she captured a pair of CAC Titles and two First Team All-CAC certificates in the process after winning both the 100 and 200-yard breaststrokes. Her 1:04.98 in the 100 at the league championships is the second-fastest time in the event in CAC history.

In four years at FSU, Weinberger was part of 33 school records in both individual events and relays.

To be nominated for the Google Cloud Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.3 or higher cumulative grade point average and be a starter or significant reserve.

The Women's At-Large Team consists of athletes from the following sports: beach volleyball, bowling, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis and water polo.

Weinberger is the only swimmer in program history to earn Academic All-American honors and she is just the fourth female student-athlete in Frostburg history to win multiple Academic All-American awards. Weinberger is also the Bobcats' 15th overall honoree across all sports.
