Mary Washington's Courtney Goimarac and Kaz Murata Fall in NCAA Tennis Singles Tourney 1st Round
Mary Washington seniors Courtney Goimarac and Kaz Murata, the 2011 CAC Women's Tennis and Men's Tennis Players of the Year, were defeated in the first round of their respective NCAA Championship Tournaments.
Goimarac (Hudson, Ohio, Hudson) fell to second seeded Julia Browne of Tufts University, 6-2, 6-2, on Friday in the first round of the NCAA Division III women's tennis singles tournament in Claremont, Cal.
Murata(Nashville, Tenn., Saddlebrook Prep (Fla.)) fell in the first round of the men's singles championship to Sam Sweeney of North Central College, the fifth seed, 6-4, 6-1.
Murata and Riley Baver (Wayne, Pa., Radnor) fell late Friday in the first round of the doubles championship, 6-0, 6-2.
