York Women's Tennis Defeats St. Mary's 6-3 in CAC First Round

Fourth-seeded York posted a 6-3 win over St. Mary's in the opening round of the CAC Women's Tennis Tournament on Saturday in York. The Spartans advance to the semifinals where they will travel to top-seeded Mary Washington on Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. 

Wednesday's other semifinal will feature No. 3 Salisbury at No. 2 Christopher Newport, also at 3:30 p.m. 

York improves to 9-5 overall while St. Mary's sees their season come to an end at 7-9.

With her victory at No. 1 singles, York's Katie Wagner's became the program's all-time leader in singles wins. Wagner is now 32-8 in her three seasons. 

The Spartans posted wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, while Katie Wagner, Rachel Wagner (No. 2), Maisie Supp (No. 5), and Gina Liguori (No. 6) earned straight-set singles victories for York.

Match 3 - #4 York at #1 Mary Washington, 4 p.m. 

Saturday, April 22 - Championship Match
Match 4 - Winner of Match 2 vs. Winner of Match 3
