Mary Washington and Christopher Newport Secure Shutout Wins in CAC Women's Tennis Semifinals

For the third straight year, Mary Washington and Christopher Newport will clash in the CAC women's tennis championship match after both posted shutout victories in Wednesday's semifinals. 

Top-seeded Mary Washington defeated fourth-seeded York 5-0 at the Battleground. The 14th-ranked Eagles (18-5) are aiming for their 14th consecutive conference title in Saturday's title match. The Spartans are now 9-6 on the year. 

Second-seeded Christopher Newport and third-seeded Salisbury faced off in the CAC semifinals for the fourth consecutive season, with the 23rd-ranked Captains securing a 5-0 shutout to move onto the championship round for the third year in a row. Salisbury's season comes to a close at 10-7 following the defeat. 

Saturday's showdown betwen UMW and CNU will begin at 11:30 a.m. in Fredericksburg, Va.
