Christopher Newport's Ranta-aho, Mary Washington's Brogan & Barrow Bow Out of NCAA Women's Tennis Championships

Christopher Newport sophomore Johanna Ranta-aho and Mary Washington seniors Kait Brogan and Ashley Barrow saw their seasons come to a close on Thursday in the NCAA Singles & Doubles Championships in Claremont, Cal. 

In singles play, Ranta-aho fell to Claremont-Mudd-Scipps sophomore Nicole Tan 7-6 (3), 6-3. The loss snapped a 14-match winning streak for the Helsinki, Finland native, who closes the year with an 18-5 overall record in singles play. Ranta-aho was the CAC Player of the Year in 2018. 

In doubles, the UMW tandem of Brogan and Barrow dropped their first round match to Nithya Kanagasegar and Madeline Paolucci of Case Western Reserve by a score of 6-1, 6-2. The loss wraps up a very successful season for the duo, who finished with a record of 26-5.
