Brittany Horrigan And Jennifer Houghton Selected As The CAC Women's Track & Field Co-Athletes Of The Week

Mary Washington freshman BRITTANY HORRIGAN (Reading, Mass./Reading) and Salisbury freshman JENNIFER HOUGHTON (Mt. Laurel, N.J./Lenape) were named the CAC Women’s Track & Field Co-Athletes Of The Week for their gold medal throwing performances this weekend. Horrigan broke her own school record for the fourth time this season, winning the javelin against primarily NCAA Division I competition at the George Mason Invitational on Saturday. Horrigan’s effort of 38.75m (127-1) provisionally qualified her for the NCAA Division III championship. Houghton, the CAC Co-Rookie of the Year, captured top honors in the hammer (37.88m), finished second in the shot put (11.23m) and third in the discus (33.86) to lead the Sea Gulls to fourth place in the Mason-Dixon Championships.

Mary Washington senior MAE WINCHESTER (Yorktown, Va./Yorktown) was named the CAC Women’s Track & Field Athlete Of The Week after improving her NCAA provisional qualifying time in the 400 hurdles last week with a 1:02.15 performance at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa.

Wesley freshman TIARA BROOKS (Felton, Del./Lake Forest) was named the CAC Women’s Track & Field Athlete Of The Week after breaking the school record in the 200-meter dash and tying the record for 100 meters at the Rowan open. Brooks ran the 200-meter in 28.02, over 0.7 seconds faster than the old record. She followed it up with a 13.84 in the 100-meter, tying the school record in the event in the second year of the program at the Division III level.

Hood junior JESSICA STANLEY (Huntingtown, Md/Huntingtown) was named the CAC Women’s Track & Field Athlete Of The Week after breaking school records in the 400 (1:01.89) and 800 (2:35.00) only two years after “retiring” from running because the pain from stress fractures in both feet. She set the records in only her second collegiate meet in races held approximately 20 minutes at Goucher College apart with driving winds in excess of 30 mph.

Hood senior JESSICA PARRISH (Baltimore, Md./Seton Keough) won her second-straight CAC Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week award after participating in five wins as the Blazers finished second among eight teams in Saturday’s Dragon Invitational held in Columbia, Md., and hosted by Howard Community College. In her most impressive effort, Parrish captured the long jump extending the school record over 14", while leaping 17' 1/4" to also set a new meet record. This was enhanced by wins in the 100 (13.43), the triple jump (10.7 meters), the 200 (26.47), and anchoring the winning 4 x 100 relay (52.58). The first two marks also set meet records.

Hood senior JESSICA PARRISH (Baltimore, Md./Seton Keough) was named the CAC Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week after winning two individual events and anchoring the top 4x100 relay team at the season-opening meet at Salisbury. Parrish set team records in winning the 100 (12.6), triple jump (35-3) and helped the relay team set the new school standard. She also placed fourth in the long jump, helping the Blazers to second place in the team standings.
