Her undergraduate career at Salisbury University may be coming to a close tomorrow, but senior Liz Tollett has more than just a college degree to celebrate. The Maryland Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (MACDA) recently released its three annual post-graduate scholarship award winners, and Tollett was one of the recipients.

The prestigious award, given to just three students representing three Maryland institutions of higher learning, includes a $500 grant upon the students' enrollment in a post-graduate program. To be eligible, student-athletes must possess a minimum 3.2 grade point average in undergraduate studies, excel in a varsity sport, participate in leadership activities beyond the playing field and plan to further their education.

Tollett, a Severna Park, Md., native, went above and beyond those eligibility requirements in her highly successful four-year career as a Sea Gull. As a three-sport athlete, Tollett was a member of the 2009 National Champion field hockey team and two NCAA Final Four squads; additionally, she was a distance runner on both indoor and outdoor track & field teams, most recently earning All-Capital Athletic Conference first-team honors en route to the program's second-straight CAC title.

In 2010, Tollett was appointed to the prestigious NCAA Division III Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and she is the President of the Capital Athletic Conference SAAC. 

In the classroom, Tollett soared, and on Thursday, May 19, will walk across the stage to earn her bachelor's degree in physical education with a 3.75 grade point average. She will remain at Salisbury University to pursue her graduate studies in the fall.
