Salisbury's Chelsea Tavik, Wesley's Matt Bundy and York's Jasmine Smith were selected to compete in the 2012 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Claremont, Calif.

Tavik won the shot put competition during the indoor national championships and will look to match that performance this weekend in Claremont, Calif., as Claremont McKenna-Harvey Mudd-Scripps Colleges will host the event.  Tavik has earned All-American status in the past three championships she has competed, finishing third in last year's outdoor shot put event.  The Glen Burnie, Md., native will enter the championship as the second-seeded athlete in the competition, having posted a school-record effort of 48' 1.25" earlier this week at the Lions' Last Chance Meet, hosted by The College of New Jersey. Tavik's top throw trails only the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh's Breanna Strupp, who put up a 49' 0.25" effort on Friday at the UW-Oshkosh Final Qualifier.

Bundy qualified for the NCAA Championships at a last-chance meet and is seeded  ninth in the 110 hurdles in 14.52.

Smith officially qualified for long jump at the 2012 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships in Claremont, Calif. Smith becomes the first Spartan women's track & field student-athlete to qualify for the NCAA National Championships. Smith, who has put together a fantastic rookie campaign, qualified for NCAA Nationals with a school record leap of 5.69 meters (18' 8"), breaking her own previous program-best mark. Named the Capital Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year, Smith picked up the league title in the long jump, finished second in the 100 meters, and helped the Green and White 4x100 squad to a runner-up finish in the championships courtesy of another school record.
