Salisbury Junior Chelsea Tavik To Compete In The Shot Put At The 2012 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships

The NCAA announced its invitations for the Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships on Monday and Salisbury University will be represented by junior Chelsea Tavik, who will compete in the shot put. The competition will be held on Saturday in Grinnell, Iowa.

Tavik enters the event seeded fourth, with her top heave of the season covering 46' 0.75". She accomplished that feat during the Thomson Invitational at the University of Delaware on Jan. 28.

Tavik currently holds the school's indoor records for both the shot put and the weight throw and is the Salisbury record holder in the outdoor shot put as well as the javelin.

Last season, Tavik traveled to the NCAA indoor championships, where she placed 11th in the nation and followed that up with a third-place finish, and All-American status, in the shot put at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
