CAC Women's Track & Field Teams Compete In Final Tune-Up For Outdoor Championships

Four CAC Women's Track & Field teams competed over the weekend in their final tune-ups for next weekend's 2014 CAC Outdoor Championships at Christopher Newport. 

Salisbury and Wesley traveled to Philadelphia for the 120th edition of the historic Penn Relays at Franklin Field, while Frostburg State and York competed at the Paul Kaiser Classic at Shippensburg. 

At the Penn Relays, Salisbury's 4x400 relay team of senior Alex Greissinger, junior Ameera Teal, sophomore Lauren Snyder, and freshman Makiah Green ran the fastest time for the program this season on Thursday. The quartet placed fifth in their heat with a time of 4:05.31. The time is the fastest for a Salisbury women's relay since the CAC championships in 2012. 

Also at the Penn Relays, Wesley competed in three relay events - the 4x100m, 4x200m and 4x400m. The 4x200 squad of freshmen Angel HallElizsha Streeter and Kiona Mency, as well as junior Stevi Carpenter were placed in the fastest heat of the day and ran a school-record 1:42.40 to finish 41st of 58. In the 4x400, Streeter, Hall, Carpenter and freshman Camille Ince broke the school record at 4:09.98. 

Frostburg State freshman thrower Tiffany Cancel captured fifth place in the discus throw to highlight the team's performance at the Paul Kaiser Classic on Saturday. Cancel grabbed the only individual top-five finish for the Bobcats with her fifth-place showing in the discus throw at 35.01 meters. The 4x800-meter relay team consisting of junior Bryn Allston, freshman Casey Columbus, freshman Alexis DeVault and junior Gabbi Maher grabbed a third-place finish with a time of 11:00.83.

York received a number of strong performances at the Paul Kaiser Classic. Junior Jess Miller placed second in the 10,000 meters at 41:08.91. Junior Caroline DeLany notched a fourth-place finish in the 5K, crossing the line in a time of 19:31.91.In the 3,000 meter steeplechase, Jenna Roberts placed fourth with a time of 12:41.96.

The 2014 CAC Track & Field Championships will take place from May 3-4 at Christopher Newport University.
