CAC Women's Track & Field Teams Post Multiple Strong Weekend Performances

Several school records and top performances headlined women's track & field action around the CAC this weekend. 

At the Colonial Relays, Christopher Newport's DMR foursome of Jessica McClelland, Leah Richardson, Logan Harrington, and Briana Stewart combined to finish in ninth at 12:15.88, shattering the old CNU mark (13:12.60) that had stood since 2001. Individually, McClelland also set a new record in the 1500 meters on Friday.

Frostburg State hosted the Bobcat Invitational on Saturday, with conference foe Mary Washington also competing in the event. 

For Frostburg State, senior Morgan Carroll and junior Alexis Bush combined for five wins to pace the host Bobcats. Carroll picked up wins in the high jump (1.52 meters) and the 400-meter dash (61.15), while Bush earned victories in the 100-meter dash (13.01) and hit an ECAC qualifying mark after winning the long jump (5.25 meters). Bush also placed second in the 200-meter dash in 27.27.

The duo also combined with sophomore Russia Tatum and freshman Ana Gomerez for a win in the 4x100-meter relay in 51.45. Freshman Alexis DeVault grabbed the Bobcats' sixth victory of the meet when she took the 5000-meter run in 20:03.53.

For Mary WashingtonJordan Watkins (triple jump/34'-0.25"), Claire Harrington (pole vault/9'-6.25"), Taylor Cockerille (discus/124'-11") and Cheyenne Falls (shot put/40'-0.5") each claimed top honors in their respective events to lead the Eagles. 

Both Salisbury and Wesley traveled to Princeton University for the Sam Howell Invitational. 

Salisbury freshman Sarah Taylor broke the school pole vault record with a mark of 10'-10", taking 10th in the event. Senior Kara Tolson delivered one of the top-15 times in the nation in the 200 meter dash, earning a 17th-place finish at 25.55 seconds. 

Wesley was led by junior Stevi Carpenter and freshman Elizsha Streeter, who both broke school records. Carpenter set a new mark in the 400 meters at 1:00.41, placing 27th out of 45 runners. Streeter finished 30th of 51 runners in the 200, crossing the line in 26.37. 

At the Millersville Metric Meet, York finished 16th of 26 teams. Junior Jess Miller had the best individual performance as she placed fourth in the 5K race at 18:55.51 .
