Records Fall as Five CAC Women's Track & Field Squads Compete Over Weekend

Several CAC women's track & field teams broke records over the weekend, including one CAC record, as five squads competed over the first weekend in April.

Christopher Newport, Salisbury and Wesley competed at the Colonial Relays hosted by William & Mary. Out of the 49 competing teams, Salisbury placed 36th, CNU 37th and Wesley 44th.

Wesley's 4x100 relay team provided the highlight of the day, breaking the CAC record with a time of 47.78. The team of Elizsha Streeter, Angel Hall, Ashley Morris and Alexia Mitchell broke the conference mark of 48.28 that was set by Wesley last spring. The team finished sixth overall in the event and is the second-fastest Division III time this season.

The Christopher Newport 4x800 relay of Hannah Bullen, Logan Harrington, Briana Stewart and Lydia Cromwell broke the school record in the event. The quartet posted a time of 9:46.72, which shaved nearly 10 seconds off the previous school mark established in 2010.

Salisbury set one school record and had numerous finishes as the top Division III representative events. The school record fell in the 4x100-meter relay, as freshmen Chanel Beaudoin and Christine Randall, sophomore Kelsey Larger, and junior Lauren Snyder teamed up for a 48.92-second time, good for 14th in the event. The time also puts the Sea Gulls at 12th in the country.

Frostburg State hosted the Bobcat Invitational on Saturday, a non-team scoring event. Freshman Kayla Truesdel had the best individual performance of the day for FSU as she won the 200-meter dash (26.03), the 400-meter dash (60.22) and was the fourth leg of the 4x400-meter relay team that posted a victory in 4:18.86.

Penn State Harrisburg traveled to Millersville, Pa. for the Millersville Metrics meet. Kaitlin Gould registered the top finishes of the day, taking 13th in the 400 meters at 1:05.50 and 10th in the pole vault at 10'-00.

Earlier in the week, York hosted its annual Twilight Meet, with Mary Washington also competing in the meet. UMW claimed third place out of the 10 teams, while the host Spartans placed sixth.

Mary Washington was led by Taylor Cockerille, who won the discus at 38.82 meters, and finished second in the shot put at 12.42 meters.

York freshman Ericka Quenzer secured lone fist place finish for the Spartans as she won the 100m hurdles with a time of 16.03. That mark by Quenzer broke her previous school record time of 16.28, which she set on March 21 at the Elizabethtown Early Bird Opener.
