Salisbury Jumps Out to Early Lead at CAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships; Four Records Fall on Day One

Four records were broken on day one as the Salisbury women's track & field team jumped out to an early lead at the 2015 CAC Championships in York, Pa. 

Salisbury totaled 63.33 to claim a commanding early lead, followed by Mary Washington (32), Christopher Newport (19), York (19), Wesley (12), Frostburg State (8) and Penn State Harrisburg (4) in the team standings. 

A quartet of records were bested to highlight day one action. Mary Washington's Claire Harrington broke her own conference and championship meet record in the pole vault with a mark of 11'-06.50 on her way to first place. 

A trio of new records were set in the preliminary events. CNU's Leah Richardson broke her own CAC championship meet record in the 200 meter prelims at 25.07, CNU's Enuma Ezenwa broke the conference and championship records in the 100 hurdles at 14.53, and Wesley's Elizsha Streeter set new conference and championship marks in the 100 meter prelims with a time of 12.09. 

Other day one winners included Salisbury's Paige DeMent in the shot put (42'-05.25"), Salisbury's Nicole Bayer in the javelin (131'-07"), the Sea Gulls' Ashley Jackson in the triple jump (37'-01"), and York's Jess Miller in the 10,000 meters (41:12.83). 

Sunday's action will begin at 10 a.m. in York.
