Frostburg State's Truesdel, Wesley's Brown and Christopher Newport's Wingard Earn Major Awards on 2017 All-CAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Team

YORK, Pa. - Frostburg State's Kayla Truesdel, Wesley's Jasmine Brown, and Christopher Newport's Tyler Wingard were honored with the major awards on the 2017 All-CAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Team.

Truesdel secured the first Outdoor Athlete of the Year accolade of her career. This completes an Athlete of the Year sweep for the junior, as she was also named Indoor Athlete of the Year at the 2017 CAC Indoor Championships. Truesdel won the 100 and 200 meters and also anchored a pair of second-place relays in the 4x100 and 4x400. She is the first-ever Bobcat to be named Outdoor Athlete of the Year.

Brown became the first-ever Wesley student-athlete to earn Rookie of the Year honors after taking top honors in the long jump and triple jump and second place in the high jump.

Wingard was selected as Coach of the Year by his peers for the third straight year after leading CNU to its fourth consecutive outdoor crown.

CNU led the way on the All-CAC squad with 13 total honorees; seven on the first team and six on the second team. Logan Harrington added to her already-impressive career resume with her fourth-straight first team appearance in the 800 and her fourth-straight overall and third-straight first team appearance in the 1,500. Harrington also anchored the winning 4x400 relay along with Victoria Neston, Monica Lannen, and Kaitlynn Beaulieu

Other first-teamers for the Captains included Hannah Shoemaker in the shot put, Sarah Johnson in the discus, Molly McCabe in the 100 hurdles, and Emmie Schmitt in the 10,000. Shoemaker, McCabe, and Schmitt were each second-team honorees in those events last spring. Schmitt also picked up a second-team award in the 5,000. Shoemaker's shot put toss set a new championship meet record.

Also landing the All-CAC second team for CNU were Abby Snyder (3,000 steeple), Hannah Bowden (long jump), Briana Sutton (javelin), Tyler Robin (shot put), and Kayla Brown (hammer throw).

Led by Brown's Rookie of the Year showing, Wesley claimed 10 spots on the All-CAC team. Angel Hall earned first-team honors in the 400 and the 4x100 relay along with Ashley Morris, Elizsha Streeter, and Briana Artis. Streeter grabbed second-team accolades individually in a trio of sprints - the 100, 200, and 400, marking her fourth straight all-conference award in the both the 200 and 400.

Other second team honorees for the Wolverines included Morris in the 100 hurdles and Monshea Newsome-Murray in the triple jump.

A trio of York runners secured first team All-CAC awards - Alayna De Bruin in the 3,000 steeplechase, Kathleen Cannon in the 5,000, and Emily Plante in the 400 hurdles. It marked the second straight 5,000 title for Cannon. Jess Delviscio (1,500) and Anne Measley (400 hurdles) earned second team honors for the Spartans. It was the second-straight second-team award for Delviscio in the 1,500.

Salisbury's Meghan McGowan completed a career sweep in the high jump with a championship meet record performance to headline the Sea Gulls' all-conference award winners. Joining McGowan on the first team was Kyleigh Dumas, who won the pole vault. Shea McCloskey placed second in the 800 for SU while Alison Schwartz (1,500) and Kathleen Kammerer (pole vault) also grabbed second team honors.

Frostburg State's Zoe Harris joined Truesdel as a first-team honoree in the javelin for the second straight year, while Kenzi SmithKeileen Estrada, and Destiny Logan teamed with Truesdel for second-team honors in the 4x100 and Estrada, Logan, and Michala Garrison teamed with Truesdel for a silver-medal finish in the 4x400.
