Frostburg State Senior Kayla Truesdel Repeats as CAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Year

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - Frostburg State senior sprinter Kayla Truesdel was selected as the CAC Women's Outdoor Athlete of the Year for the second straight year to headline the 2018 All-CAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field team. Penn State Harrisburg freshman Sarah Lehman and Salisbury head coach Jim Jones collected the other top honors as Rookie and Coach of the Year, respectively.

Truesdel has now secured back-to-back Athlete of the Year awards in both outdoor and indoor track & field, collecting four AOTY honors throughout her stellar career for the Bobcats. That ranks as the second-most in CAC history, behind only former Salisbury's standout Chelsea Tavik, who won the award five times throughout her career. Individually, Truesdel repeated at champion in both the 100 and 200-meter dashes at the CAC Championship meet. She also had success in the relays, running the leadoff leg of the victorious 4x100 relay for the Bobcats and anchoring the runner-up 4x400 relay.

Lehman, who also secured Rookie of the Year honors at the indoor championships, becomes the first Penn State Harrisburg athlete to win Outdoor Rookie of the Year. Lehman won the triple jump and finished second in the long jump for the Lions at the championships.

Jones was voted as Coach of the Year by his peers for the fifth time after guiding the Sea Gulls' to second-place team finish, falling just two points shy of team champion Christopher Newport. Jones also received the award for four straight years from 2010-13.

Team champion Christopher Newport earned the most spots on the All-CAC squad, securing 10 of the 40 all-star nods, led by sophomore Monica Lannen's gold-medal performances in the 800 and 1,500 meters. Second-team performers for the Captains included sophomore Samantha Dickerson (5,000m & 10,000m), junior Sarah Johnson (discus & shot put), and junior Hannah Bowden (100h & high jump).

Estrada earned second-team honors in the 400 hurdles, and was also a part of the first-team All-CAC 4x100 and the second-team All-CAC 4x400 for the Bobcats. Destiny Logan also contributed to both all-conference relays, while Gabbriell Reason (4x100) and Maddison Watson (4x400) also nabbed spots in the all-star team for FSU.
