Frostburg State Senior Kayla Truesdel Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

Google Cloud Academic All-District Women's Track/Cross Country Team

Frostburg State senior standout sprinter Kayla Truesdel has earned another award on Tuesday morning as she was selected to the Google Cloud Academic All-District II Women's Track/Cross Country Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
 
A now two-time Academic All-District II honoree, Truesdel carried a perfect 4.0 GPA throughout her four years at Frostburg and received her bachelor's degree in exercise and sport science last Thursday.
 
Truesdel, a seven-time Dean's List student, also garnered U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III All-Academic honors twice and is a three-time Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) All-Academic award recipient. She was selected to participate in the 2018 NCAA Career in Sports Forum held May 31- June 3 at the NCAA national office in Indianapolis, Ind.
 
Truesdel capped her stellar career at Frostburg this past Friday night after taking 11th place in the 100-meter dash prelims in 12.57 at the NCAA Championships.
 
Friday night's race marks the fifth time that the Upper Marlboro, Md. native has competed at the NCAAs.
 
She ended her time in a Bobcat uniform by being named the CAC's Female Athlete of the Year four-straight times, while garnering 14 USTFCCCA All-Region awards and 18-All-CAC certificates.
 
The District II region includes Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Rhode Island and West Virginia. The be nominated for the Google Cloud Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.3 or higher cumulative grade point average and be a starter or significant reserve.
 
Truesdel now moves on to the national ballot, with the Google Cloud Academic All-America teams set to be announced on June 19.
