NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Christopher Newport competed at the Camel City Invitational and hosted the Vince Brown Invitational last weekend. Hannah Shoemaker established a new school record in the weight throw after unleashing a 14.52-meter toss, eclipsing her previous standard of 14.45 meters set last year and marked the longest throw by a Division III athlete at the meet. Two days later, she came back and won the shot put crown at the Vince Brown Invitational with a season-best 13.32-meter toss. That ranks as the longest throw in the CAC this year and places her 15th on the national list. At the Vince Brown Invitational, CNU's Monica Lannen took over the No. 1 spot in the conference in the 800 after posting a time of 2:22.18, which is over a second faster than the second-best mark in the CAC this year. Later, she ran the second leg on the squad's victorious 4x400-relay during the meet. The foursome's time of 4:15.14 marked the top standard by the Captains this year ... Frostburg State senior Kayla Truesdel captured two wins at the SU Challenge at Susquehanna in the 60-meter dash (7.85) and the 200-meter dash (26.46). Her two wins mark the third meet this season in which she has won both the 60 and 200-meter dashes. Over the last four meets, she has hit eight ECAC Championships marks. She also helped the 4x400-meter relay team to a win in an ECAC-qualifying mark of 4:08.50 ... Wesley junior Jourdyn Beverly took home the gold in the weight throw and placed third in the shot put at the Eastern Shore Invitational. Beverly won the weight throw with a mark of 14.86 meters (48-9) and threw the shot 11.56 meters (37-11.75). Freshman Maysha Foster placed second in the 60-meter dash and third as part of the 4x200-meter relay at the Eastern Shore Invitational. Foster crossed the line in 7.90 seconds and the 4x200 team finished in 1:50.98 ... Jess DelViscio earned York's top finish at the Susquehanna Open on Saturday. DelViscio earned a third-place finish out of 52 runners in the 800 meters with a time of 2:26.14. DelViscio's time was a personal best and ranks fourth in the CAC this season.
