The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) released their final Google Cloud Academic All-America teams on Tuesday and Frostburg State sprinting standout Kayla Truesdel was named to the Second Team for Division III track & field.
 
Truesdel graduated from Frostburg last month with a perfect 4.00 GPA and her bachelor's degree in exercise and sports science.
 
Truesdel is one of 48 student-athletes named to the three Academic All-America teams and she is one of 19 award winners with a perfect GPA.
 
Truesdel capped her career with four Capital Athletic Conference All-Academic awards, two U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III All-Academic honors, two CoSIDA Academic All-District honors and she was named to the Dean's List seven times. She was also selected to participate in the 2018 NCAA Career in Sports Forum that took place on May 31- June 3 at the NCAA national office in Indianapolis, Ind.
 
On the track, the Upper Marlboro, Md. native was a five-time NCAA Championship participant and was named the CAC's Female Track Athlete of the Year four-consecutive times. Truesdel was voted by the Frostburg athletic department staff as FSU's Female Athlete of the Year in each of her final two years.
 
At the NCAA Outdoor Championships this spring, Truesdel captured 11th in the 100-meter dash in 12.57, while at the NCAA Indoor Championships, she finished in 11th place in the 200-meter dash in 25.25.
 
In total, Truesdel was an 11-time CAC champion, captured 18 All-CAC medals and was placed on the USTFCCCA All-Mideast Region team 18 times.
 
To be nominated for the Google Cloud Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.3 or higher cumulative grade point average and be a starter or significant reserve.
 
Truesdel is the first competitor from the Bobcat track & field programs to earn Academic All-America honors. She is Frostburg's 14th overall honoree across all sports and she is the third Academic All-American this year following Melanie Bell (women's soccer) and Maddie Weinberger (swimming).
