Salisbury's Jamie Farley and Penn State Harrisburg's Sarah Lehman Earn CAC Women's Track & Field Athletes of the Week Honors

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- ​Salisbury senior Jamie Farley and Penn State Harrisburg sophomore Sarah Lehman were honored as the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Track & Field Athletes of the Week on Dec. 11, 2018.

​Salisbury senior Jamie Farley turned in a solid outing on Sunday afternoon at the CNU Holiday Open earning a fourth and fifth-place finish in the 200-meter and 400-meter dash respectively. In the 200-meter dash Farley came home in a time of 26.42 seconds while crossing the finish line in a time of 59.81 seconds in the 400-meter dash. Farley's 400 meter times puts her sixth in D3, while she ranks 14th in the 200 meter dash.

 

 

Field Athlete of the Week

After a strong showing in the season opener two weeks ago, Penn State Harrisburg's Sarah Lehman continued to impress in the jump events at the Lehigh Fast Times Before Finals meet on Saturday, Dec. 8. In a field that included NCAA Division I and Division II competitors, the sophomore was the highest Division III finisher in the triple jump, posting a top effort of 11.36 meters. The mark is currently good enough to rank her sixth in the nation in the event. The 2017-18 CAC Rookie of the Year was also strong in the long jump, finishing fourth thanks to a top leap of 5.36 meters. She also competed on the track in the 60m hurdles. This marks the second straight week Lehman has received CAC Athlete of the Week accolades.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Christopher Newport's Logan Funk made a successful indoor debut on Sunday during the CNU Holiday Open at the Freeman Center. During the competition, the freshman won the mile in 5:25.72. That clocking currently ranks as the top mark in the CAC this year and places her among the top-30 nationally. It also stands third among freshmen in the NCAA...CNU's Sarah Johnson led all Division III competitors in a pair of throwing events during the CNU Holiday Open on Sunday at the Freeman Center. In the weight throw, she posted a distance of 14.45 meters, which stands as the top mark by a thrower in the CAC this year. She also added an 11.53-meter heave in the shot put, which beat the next closest Division III competitor by over four feet on Sunday...The Frostburg 4x200-meter relay team of junior Keileen Estrada, sophomore Maddison Watson, junior Kenzi Smith and sophomore Gabbriell Reason raced to a first-place finish with a time of 1:54.04 at the Marietta First Glimpse...Salisbury's Kyleigh Dumas turned in a solid performance at the CNU Holiday Open on Sunday afternoon. Dumas picked up her first victory of the season in the pole vault clearing the bar at a height of 11' 1.75" to earn the win.
