Gallaudet senior libero SHANA LEHMANN (Frederick, Md./Maryland School for the Deaf) was named the Capital Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week after a strong defensive weekend that averaged 25 digs overa five matches. In addition to helping the Bison clinch third place in the CAC regular-season standings, Lehman recorded 32 digs against 23rd-ranked Eastern and 30 digs against Washington & Lee as GU participated in the Seahawk Invitational at St. Mary’s.

St. Mary’s junior setter KATIE OBAL (Olney, Md./Sherwood) was named the Capital Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week after leading the Seahawks to a pair of CAC victories that lifted SMC into a tie for fourth place in the conference standings and secured a berth in the 2009 playoffs. In victories over Stevenson and Wesley, Obal had 53 assists, 19 digs, seven kills and three block assists and hit for .400 in the two matches.

Marymount senior hitter CHRISTINA LaVIGNA (East Moriches, N.Y./Westhampton Beach) was named the Capital Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week after leading the Saints to four wins in five matches. LaVigna, who recorded three double-doubles and was one dig short of a fourth in four outings during the Baruch Tournament, registered 57 kills, 48 digs, 11 service aces and nine blocks as Marymount improved to 17-9 for the season.

Gallaudet senior outside hitter AMANDA KRIEGER (Carmel, Ind./Indiana School for the Deaf) was named the Capital Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week after leading the Bison to a CAC midweek win at York, then gaining MVP recognition as GU went undefeated in the Worthington Classic. She had 12 kills, five digs and two aces in a shutout victory at York, then averaged 3.79 kills per set, hit for .280 and contributed 14 aces and 35 digs in four weekend tournament victories.

Mary Washington senior outside hitter ANNE LUTKENHAUS (Richmond, Va./Douglas Freeman) was named the Capital Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week after leading the Eagles to three victories this week, including a pair of wins over top CAC playoff contenders. Lutkenhaus contributed 13 kills and 16 digs in a victory over visiting York, then followed with 19 kills and 15 digs as UMW outlasted host Gallaudet. She was also strong in a shutout non-conference win over Washington & Lee and currently leads the team in kills (203, 3.50 per game), hitting percentage (.301) and is second in digs (170, 2.93 per game).

Gallaudet senior outside hitter JUSTINE JETER (Noblesville, Ind./Indiana School for the Deaf) was named the Capital Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week after contributing 79 kills, 44 digs, five solo blocks, one block assist, four service aces and hit for a .357 percentage in leading the Bison to four wins in five matches and a third-place finish in Elizabethtown’s Blue Jay Classic. She posted three double-doubles on the week and averaged 4.39 kills and 2.44 digs per set for the Bison.

Salisbury senior libero GABBY LONG (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air) was named the Capital Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week after leading the Sea Gulls to five wins last week, including a 3-2 decision over 22nd-ranked Haverford. Long recorded key digs for the Gulls, who overcame five consecutive match points in the final game to get the win. Long had 32 digs, three assists and a kill against the Fords, and added 27 digs vs. Allegheny.

University of Mary Washington senior hitter ANNE LUTKENHAUS (Richmond, Va./Douglas Freeman) was named the Capital Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week after recording 79 kills, 68 digs and posting double doubles in all five matches as the Eagles improved to 6-3 for the season. Lutkenhaus earned All-Tournament recognition for the second straight week.

Salisbury University senior outside hitter RACHEL DOWNES (Salisbury, Md./Salisbury Christian) was named the Capital Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week after recording 40 kills, 23 digs and 13 blocks as the Sea Gulls opened the season with three wins in four outings. Downes’ best outing was against host Gettysburg in the Battlefield Classic, where she contributed 12 kills, four digs and two blocks.
