Five CAC Volleyball Players Named To AVCA Honorable Mention All-America Squad

Five CAC players were among the 111 named to the 2010 American Volleyball Coaches Association All-America team, including Sarah Stephens and Kylie Carrington of Frostburg State, Alysse Beshore and Ashley Rineman of York and Chelsea Glowacki of Salisbury.

All five players were previously selected to the 2010 All-CAC and AVCA All-Region teams.  Stephens was the CAC Player of the Year and first-team all-star.  Beshoe, Carrington and Glowacki were also first-team All-CAC honorees while Rineman was second-team all-conference choice.

Stephens and Carrington led Frostburg State (34-4) to the CAC regular-season and post-season championships.  The Bobcats then won their first two NCAA Tournament matches and advanced to the regional championship match, where they fell to long-time NCAA Division III powerhouse Juniata.

Stephens earned 2010 NCAA Frostburg Regional All-Tournament honors after helping the Bobcats (34-4) reach the regional championship. She finsihed the season ranked 16th in the nation in kills per set (4.35) and 20th in points per set (4.87). Stephens, the Capital Athletic Conference Player of the Year, led the league in kills and finished fifth in FSU single-season history with 570 kills this season.

Carrington, a first team selection for both the Mid-Atlantic region and CAC, captured All-American honors after a stellar season. She handed out a conference-best 1,320 assists and finished the season ranked 20th in the nation in assist per game (10.56). In three NCAA Tournament matches last weekend, Carrington totaled 98 assists, including 40 against SUNY Cortland, as the Bobcats advanced to regional championship. In the opening round match against Pitt-Bradford, Carrington handed out 39 assists and moved into second all-time in career assists.

Beshore finished the year hitting .310 with 334 total kills for York (27-6). She played in 117 sets and averaged 2.85 kills per set. Beshore ranks fifth in the CAC in hitting percentage, fourth in kills per set, and fourth in points per set (3.48).  Beshore finishes her career with 763 kills, a .291 hitting percentage and 2.13 kills per set in her 359 sets played over her three-year Spartan career.She also established a new school record with her career hitting percentage.

Rineman had a fantastic sophomore year as the Spartan libero. She averaged 5.65 digs per game, almost a full dig better than any other player in the CAC. Rineman received serve at over 92% for the season. She also was also dangerous as a server as she accumulated 55 aces as she served at over 88% for the year.

Glowacki led her Sea Gulls (23-12) in 2010 on attack, posting team-highs in both kills (335) as well as blocks (124).
