Wesley Junior Carle Ax Named Second Team Capital One Academic All-American

Junior volleyball player Carle Ax (Lewiston, Idaho /Lewiston H.S.) has been named to the Capital One 2011 Academic All-America Division III Volleyball Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

A second-team honoree, Ax is the first-ever player from Wesley College to be named an Academic All-American by CoSIDA.  She is also the second CAC student-athlete in the 2011-12 academic year to earn Capital One Academic All-America recognition, joining Stevenson senior women's soccer standout Stephanie Eyler in that exclusive club.

Since the first year of the CAC in 1991, Ax is the 56th conference student-athlete to earn Academic All-America honors from CoSIDA.

Ax put together her finest season as a Wolverine this year, leading the squad with a .310 hitting percentage, 63 service aces and 204 digs, all while posting a perfect 4.0 grade-point-average in Mathematics.

Graduating after just three years in Dover, Ax has tallied 488 kills, 877 assists, 162 aces, 562 digs and 153 blocks in her career.

To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain at least a 3.30 GPA, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
