Marymount Junior Jenn Forbes Named CAC Volleyball Player Of The Week

Marymount junior middle hitter JENN FORBES (Philadelphia, Pa./Central) was named CAC Volleyball Player of the Week after she led the Saints to three wins in four outings last week and extended the team’s longest winning streak since 2006 to six matches before finishing with a non-conference setback vs. Moravian. Forbes averaged 2.93 kills per set and boasted a .462 attack percentage, including double-digit kills and a hitting percentage of over .500 in wins against Shenandoah and Lycoming. She also contributed two service aces and nine total blocks (seven assists) for the Saints.

St. Mary’s junior outside hitter CECILIA BLANC (Gaithersburg, Md./Poolesville) was named CAC Volleyball Player of the Week after leading the Seahawks to a pair of CAC shutout victories. .In the team’s first conference win of the season, a midweek decision at York, Blanc had 18 digs, eight kills, two block assists and a service ace. Saturday, against visiting Hood, she again chipped in eight kills and while posting a team-high 21 digs, four service aces and another block assist.

Salisbury junior setter CARLEY TODD (Centerport, N.Y./Harborfields) was named CAC Volleyball Player of the Week for Sept. 26, 2011, after leading the Sea Gulls to a 5-0 week, including wins over CAC rivals Stevenson and York. Todd distributed 95 assists and contributed 54 kills (.313 hit pct.), 11 service aces, 59 digs and 16 block assists.

Stevenson sophomore setter JESSICA GIESELMAN (Westminster, Md./Westminster) was named CAC Volleyball Player of the Week for Sept. 19, 2011, after leading the Mustangs to a 3-0 week, including CAC wins over Marymount and St. Mary’s. Gieselman totaled 17 kills, 105 assists, three service aces, 32 digs and seven block assists. She had nine kills, 21 assists and eight digs against the Saints and four kills, 39 assists and eight digs versus the Seahawks.

Frostburg State senior OH/S SABRINA WINTERLING (Glenelg, Md./Glenelg) was named CAC Volleyball Player of the Week for Sept. 12, 2011, after leading the Bobcats to three wins at the Catholic Univ. Tournament. On the way to earning All-Tournament recognition, Winterling distributed 94 assists, 21 digs and 12 kills as the Bobcats won 9 of 14 sets in the tournament.

Salisbury junior right side hitter JENNA SHAY (Dunkirk, Md./Northern) was named CAC Volleyball Player of the Week for Sept. 6, 2011, after leading the Sea Gulls to four wins in the Gettysburg Battlefield Tournament. She contributed 24 kills and a .449 hitting percentage on the attack, and 14 blocks (one solo) on defense, for the 4-0 Sea Gulls. Shay also chipped in three service aces and a dig on the way to earning All-Tournament recognition.
