The American Volleyball Coaches Association announced its Division III All-Americans on Tuesday, two days before the national quarterfinals, and Salisbury University senior Carley Todd made program history, becoming the first Sea Gull selected as a first-team honoree.

Prior to this season, Salisbury players had earned 10 All-American awards in program history, with two previous honorees being third team and eight others honorable mention. Todd is joined as an All-American in 2012 by classmate Chelsea Glowacki and freshman Ashlyn Tapley, who are both honorable mention All-Americans.

Todd was a third-team selection in 2011. This year, the captain finds herself near the top of every statistical category on the team. Todd has registered 1,198 assists, and in Salisbury's 3-2 regional final victory she passed 3,000 career assists.

Along with her assists, the Greenlawn, N.Y., native has the highest hitting percentage (.323) this year with 247 kills and 86 blocks (third on the team). Fifteen of her blocks have been solo efforts, tied for the most on the squad.

Todd has also been key on the back line, registering 327 digs, second on the team and 58 service aces, also second best.

The selection for this season makes the third for Glowacki, the first player in program history to reach that number, while Tapley is an All-American for the first time.

Todd, Glowacki and Tapley will lead Salisbury into the national quarterfinals, a place the program has never been, on Thursday, Nov. 15. The Sea Gulls will take on Elmhurst College in Holland, Mich., at 3 p.m.
