Christopher Newport's Chastity Lacy Earns AVCA All-Region Accolades
Christopher Newport senior Chastity Lacy, the CAC Co-Player of the Year, has been named to the America Volleyball Coaches Association All-Mid-Atlantic Region Team, earning honorable mention honors. This award marked the second All-Region accolade of Lacy's career after claiming first-team All-South Region honors last season.
One of the most disruptive forces in the nation, Lacy currently ranks 14th in the NCAA with a 1.16 blocks-per-set average. That rate also stands as the highest in the region and ranks fourth on Christopher Newport's single-season list.
Overall, the fourth-year standout currently has 129 total
rejections this year, which places her third on the program's
all-time list. So far this season, she has at least five blocks in
13 matches, including a season-best nine stops against Washington
& Lee on September 7 and Benedictine on September 20.
Along with her work on the defensive end, Lacy has been one of the
squad's most effective offensive contributors as well. She
currently sits second on the team with 238 kills while hitting at a
.252 clip. She has also chipped in with a career-high 36 aces.
Lacy and the Captains claimed both the CAC regular season and
tournament titles this fall and will open up NCAA Tournament play
this afternoon against Cabrini.
