Christopher Newport and Salisbury Secure Victories to Advance to CAC Volleyball Championship

Christopher Newport and Salisbury will meet for the CAC Championship on Saturday after collecting semifinal victories on Thursday night. The top-seeded Captains defeated fourth-seeded Marymount 3-1, while second-seeded Salisbury edged third-seeded Mary Washington 3-2 in a back-and-forth showdown.

The Captains were led by Brianna Sutton's career-high 19 kills on their way to the four-set win. Christopher Newport (23-12) earned home court advantage throughout the CAC playoffs with a perfect 8-0 regular season record, and will host the Sea Gulls (29-4) at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Freeman Center.

Salisbury will be looking for its third straight CAC crown and sixth in the last seven years, and enter Saturday riding a 10-match winning streak. Tam Weems and Julie Poston recorded 16 kills to pace the Sea Gulls over the Eagles.
