Christopher Newport Headed to Stockton for NCAA Volleyball Regional; Mary Washington Earns At-Large Bid, Travel to Juniata

NCAA Volleyball Bracket

Christopher Newport and Mary Washington will represent the CAC in the 2015 NCAA Division III Volleyball Tournament, beginning on Friday. Sixth-ranked CNU earned the CAC's automatic bid for the third straight year with a 3-0 victory over Salisbury on Saturday, while Mary Washington secured an at-large bid into the field. This marks the second time in the last three years that multiple CAC teams will compete in the NCAA Tournament.

CNU, ranked sixth in the nation, will travel to Galloway, N.J. for a regional hosted by Stockton. The Captains (29-2) will meet Hunter (23-13) in Friday's first round. Hunter secured an automatic berth out of the CUNYAC.

Along with CNU and Hunter, six other teams will travel to New Jersey for the NCAA Regionals. In addition to the host Ospreys, Randolph-Macon, Stevenson, Eastern, and Cabrini will all take part in the Regional.

This year marks the ninth straight season during which the Captains have appeared in the NCAA Tournament. Christopher Newport has won Regional championships during five of the past six years, including a run to the Elite Eight last season.

Mary Washington (24-7) was one of 20 at-large bids out of Pool C and will face Case Western Reserve (23-7) in Friday's first round at the regional hosted by Juniata. It will be the Eagles first NCAA appearance since 1991.

Other teams competing in the Juniata regional include Franciscan, Heidelberg, McDaniel, Wittenberg and Bluffton.
