Salisbury volleyball junior Katie Stouffer was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Third Team, announced by the organization on Tuesday.

With the honor, Stouffer becomes the first CAC student-athlete to receive Academic All-America recognition in the 2015-16 season. She is the 25th Sea Gull to earn Academic All-America honors since Salisbury has been a member of the CAC, and the 87th Academic All-American in CAC history.

Stouffer carries a 3.96 grade-point average as an Early Childhood/Elementary Education major, while being the Sea Gulls' offensive leader on the court in 2015. She finished the season sixth in the country and second in the CAC with 538 kills. Stouffer also ranked third in the nation and first in the CAC with 4.98 kills per set and 5.57 points per set.

In her first three seasons with the Sea Gulls, Stouffer had already taken over sole possession of No. 5 all-time in kills in program history with 1,303. On three different dates this season, she has set top-10 performances for kills in a single match, including 29 against Frostburg State on Oct. 24 that marks the most for a Sea Gull in a four-set match.

The Academic All-American is Stouffer's fourth postseason award for 2015, as she was also named an All-CAC first-team member and American Volleyball Coaches Association All-North Regoin member to go with the Academic All-District selection.
