Marymount Earns Bid to ECAC South Volleyball Tournament
The Marymount volleyball team will continue postseason play in its 2015 season, as the Eastern College Athletic Conference announced on Monday the bracket for the Division III Women's South Volleyball Championship. The Saints earned the eighth seed in the tournament and will travel to top-seeded Carnegie Mellon on Wednesday, November 11. Start time is set for 6 p.m.
Marymount enters the tournament with an 18-10 overall record, coming up short in the CAC tournament in a first-round five-set battle with St. Mary's.
The Saints have been quite successful in the ECAC tournament, advancing to the championship game the past two seasons. Last year, the women coasted past Arcadia University in the quarterfinals, 3-0, and Swarthmore College in the semifinals, 3-1, before falling in the finals to Lebanon Valley College, 3-1.
The Tartans are making their second-consecutive appearance in the ECAC tournament, advancing to last year's ECAC Southwest Championship before dropping a 3-1 decision to Geneva College. Carnegie Mellon has won the ECAC tournament seven times with the most recent in 2007.
The winner of the match will advance to a semifinal match on Saturday, November 14 against the winner of No. 4 Bethany College and No. DeSales University. Time and place to be announced. Be sure to check out www.marymountsaints.com for more information as it becomes available.
