Salisbury's Stouffer Named CAC Volleyball Player of the Year; Mary Washington's Powers, Troy Earn Major Awards

YORK, Pa. - Salisbury senior outside hitter Katie Stouffer became a four-time All-CAC first team selection and was named Player of the Year, while Mary Washington head coach Matt Troy and freshman Savannah Powers also claimed major awards to highlight the 2016 All-CAC Volleyball Team.

Stouffer's Player of the Year honor marks the seventh time a Salisbury player has earned the honor, and first since Carley Todd in 2012. Stouffer has earned first-team all-conference honors each of her four years, leading a group of three Sea Gulls on the All-CAC squad.

Mary Washington, which claimed its first CAC title since 1991, received a pair of major CAC awards. Troy was selected by his peers as Coach of the Year for the first time, while Powers was named Rookie of the Year. Powers is the third straight UMW player and sixth overall to claim Rookie of the Year honors.

Powers, an outside hitter, was also named first-team All-CAC, and was joined on the first team by senior setter Emma Olson. Olson earned her second straight first-team award and fourth all-conference honor with the nod. UMW sophomore middle hitter Leslie Walters, the 2015 Rookie of the Year, was the third Eagle who claimed all-conference honors as a second-team selection.

For Salisbury, joining Stouffer on the All-CAC squad were second-team selections senior middle hitter Jordan Lawson and sophomore outside hitter Nicole Venturelli. Lawson secured her second-straight second team award, while Venturelli received her first all-conference honor.

CAC runner-up Christopher Newport landed three players on the All-CAC team. Senior middle blocker Hannah Miller grabbed her third-straight first-team honor and fourth straight all-conference award, while senior outside hitter Maddie McCann was also named to the first team for the Captains - the first All-CAC accolade of her career. Freshman middle blocker Riley Garrison was named to the second team for CNU, joining UMW's Powers as the only freshmen on the all-conference squad.

Marymount also had three all-conference honorees, led by senior middle hitter Cailyn Thomas on the first team. Senior outside hitter Emileigh Rettig was a second-team selection for the third-straight season, while junior outside hitter Margaret McAlpin was also named to the second team. Thomas and McAlpin are both first-time All-CAC honorees.

The St. Mary's sister tandem of Alli Graf and Mimi Graf secured all-conference honors for the second straight year. Alli, a senior outside hitter, earned first-team accolades, while Mimi, a senior setter/right side hitter, collected second team honors for the Seahawks.

Frostburg State junior right side hitter Naya Cheatem and Southern Virginia junior hitter Hannah Allred represented their squads on the All-CAC team. Cheatem claimed first-team honors for the second year in a row, while Allred was named to the second team to claim all-conference honors for the first time.
