Mary Washington Volleyball Blanks Randolph-Macon, Advances to NCAA Sweet 16

Mary Washington defeated Randolph-Macon 3-0 in the second round of the NCAA Volleyball Tournament on Saturday at Ron Rosner Arena. The Eagles improve to 30-3 on the year, while the Yellow Jackets' season came to a close at 24-8. 

With the victory, the Eagles advance to the regional final against Juniata (26-6) on Sunday at 2 p.m. The winner will advance to the national quarterfinals next weekend in Oshkosh, Wisc.

Following the win, the Eagles are now among the final 16 teams in the country. It marks the third time in the last five years a CAC squad has made it to the Sweet 16, and the furthest a UMW squad has advanced in the NCAA postseason. 

Savannah Powers notched 15 kills against two errors in 25 attempts to go with four digs to lead the UMW attack, while Peyton Dunnow tallied 14 kills against three errors in 20 attempts, and added 10 digs. Emma Olson scored 37 assists, three kills, two aces, and eight digs.
