Christopher Newport Senior Hannah Miller Receives CAC Volleyball Weekly Honors

Christopher Newport senior Hannah Miller was named the CAC Volleyball Player of the Week after leading the Captains to a 4-0 record and earning MVP honors at the CNU Invitational. Miller led all players at the tournament with a .554 hitting percentage and ranked second with 16 blocks. On Friday, she registered the 1,000th kill of her career against Scranton, becoming the fastest player in program history to reach that mark in terms of attack attempts. She totaled 16 blocks throughout the four matches, including seven of the Captains' 14 blocks against Scranton on Friday. On Saturday, she laced a season-high 18 kills while hitting .471 against Averett before adding 11 kills - without a single attack error - against Scranton. For the week, she tallied 3.64 kills and 1.14 blocks per set and reached double-digit kills three times.

Christopher Newport is ranked No. 15 and Mary Washington is ranked No. 21 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top-25 ... York (12-1), Mary Washington (10-1), Christopher Newport (8-3), St. Mary's (10-4), Wesley (7-3), Marymount (7-4), and Salisbury (7-5) each boast winning records in 2016 ... CNU's Hannah Miller became the fastest player in program history to reach 1,000 career kills. It took her 2,285 career swings to reach 1000 kills, beating Bailey Jensen's previous record of 2,396 set from 2009-12. Riley Garrison and Maddie McCann joined Miller on the All-Tournament team at the CNU Invitational ... Frostburg State junior Lindsey Scepura totaled 79 digs in five matches for the Bobcats last week ... Mary Washington freshman Skyler Sisk turned in an outstanding week for the No. 21 Eagles, hitting .415 with 28 kills against just six errors in five matches. She added 12 digs, 11 total blocks, and three service aces, as the Eagles won four of five to run their record to 10-1, their best since 2011. Junior Jenna Yost surpassed the 1,000 career dig plateau over the weekend at Emory ... Marymount junior Margaret McAlpin led the Saints to a 1-0 week, sweeping Washington College for the third-straight season. McAlpin led the team in kills with seven while posting a .208 hitting percentage. She added two blocks and four digs on the defensive end ... Alli Graf paced St. Mary's in a 4-1 week by totaling team-bests of 63 kills, 10 total blocks, and nine service aces. Graf notched two 20+ kill games, including a career-best 25 kills in a four-set win over Methodist. She also posted a career-high .449 attack percentage vs. Methodist. Graf added a career-best 5 service aces in the sweep of Brooklyn College ... Katie Stouffer led Salisbury this week with 44 kills, averaging 3.14 kills per set in four matches against stellar competition at the F&M Scramble. The Sea Gulls faced No. 13 Eastern, Ohio Northern (RV), along with F&M and Stevenson, finishing 1-3 at the tournament. Stouffer hit .254 for the week ... Southern Virginia's Hannah Allred leads the team in kills, kills per set (top 5 in CAC), hitting % and has eight service aces on the season, including five last week ... Wesley freshman Kaya Ziskay saw limited action in the Wolverines' tri-match but made the most of her time, recording five kills on just eight swings and recording a single-match program-record 10 service aces in the Wolverines' sweep of Washington Adventist. The freshman also recorded four digs for the Navy and White as they rolled to a 2-0 week ... York freshman Madyson Whitcomb led the Spartans to a trio of wins this past week as York has now won nine straight and are 12-1 for the season. For the week, Whitcomb had 22 kills and a .365 attack percentage (22-3-52), three service aces, three digs, and 10 blocks. She totaled 31.5 points, good for 2.9 points per set.
