Christopher Newport junior Josie Lucernoni and York junior Eryn Brady have been selected to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Volleyball team. Both will now be eligible to earn national Academic All-America honors which will be released in December.

The national award recognizes the country's top student-athletes for their combined achievements athletically and academically. To qualify, student-athletes must be least a sophomore, own a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or above, and must be a significant contributor to their respective teams. The Academic All-America program dates back to 1952 and has honored thousands of deserving student-athletes from numerous sports across all divisions with these Academic All-America scholar-athlete honors.

Lucernoni, a defensive specialist for the CAC champion Captains, became just the second player in CNU history to earn the distinction. Anchoring the back row in 2017, Lucernoni earned second-team All-Conference nods and a place on the honorable mention All-Region team for her efforts during the year. The junior libero averaged a team-high 4.68 digs per set, which also marked the third-highest single-season rate in program history. In 29 matches, she plucked 482 digs while also compiling a .948 reception percentage on serve-receive.
 
In addition to her work on the court, Lucernoni is a perennial Academic All-Conference selection as a finance major at Christopher Newport.

York's Brady earned Academic All-District honors for the second straight year. In the classroom, Brady boasts a perfect 4.0 GPA in secondary education – social studies at York. She is a four-time member of the York College Dean's List, earning the honor in all of her collegiate semesters. 

Brady earned second-team All-CAC honors after leading the Spartans to a record of 19-10 overall and 5-4 in the CAC. An outside hitter, she tallied 232 kills in 106 sets, averaging 2.19 kills per set, good for 16th in the conference. She also recorded 53 total blocks, 27 digs and 263 points. Brady compiled an attack percentage of .237, the second-highest on the team, and she produced four games with a rating of .400 or better. 

For her career, Brady has played in 320 sets in 90 career matches. She has totaled 679 kills, good for an average of 2.12 kills per set. She has a career attack percentage of .224 while she also has 36 assists, 17 service aces, 144 digs, and 189 blocks (33 solo blocks).
