Christopher Newport junior Josie Lucernoni was named the CAC Co-Player of the Week after averaging 6.11 digs per set in leading the Captains to three straight sweeps while anchoring the back-row defense. In between her historic efforts, she also secured 15 digs against St. Mary's (Md.) in the CAC opener on Friday. Along with her work on the defensive end, Lucernoni added at least one ace in all three of her appearances, including a pair against the Seahawks. She also dished out four assists against Virginia Wesleyan. Guided by Lucernoni's work on the back row, the Captains held the opposition to a combined .048 hitting percentage during the week.
