Southern Virginia Senior Hannah Allred Selected as CAC Volleyball Player of the Week

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Southern Virginia senior Hannah Allred was selected as the CAC Volleyball Player of the Week for Sept. 25, 2017.

Southern Virginia senior Hannah Allred was selected as the CAC Player of the Week after averaging 4.67 kills and 2.83 digs per set while hitting at a .434% clip in a 2-0 week for the Knights. Allred opened the week with 16 kills, eight digs, three service aces and two blocks in a 3-0 sweep over Roanoke. She followed that up with 12 kills, nine digs, two blocks and an ace in another sweep over Emory & Henry. She contributed 5.8 points per set in the pair of wins for the Knights.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Christopher Newport is No. 24 in the American Volleyball Coaches' Association Sept. 19 National Rankings, while Mary Washington is receiving votes ... Christopher Newport went 3-1 last week at the CNU Invitational. Katelyn Newsome and Abby Oren were named to the all-tournament team ... Frostburg State senior Madelyn Torres handed out 121 assists in four matches last week. She also registered 16 kills and 22 digs ... Junior Leslie Walters led Mary Washington to a 3-0 victory over Washington & Lee University on Saturday, hitting .556 with 11 kills against just one error. She added two aces, two digs, and one block assist. Senior Jenna Yost became just the second player in UMW program history to surpass 1,500 career digs ... Marymount freshman Alexa Marcum set a career high in kills twice this past week, helping the Saints to a 3-1 mark. Against Randolph-Macon, she came through with a career-high 10 kills on a career-high .375 hitting percentage. On Saturday at a home trimatch against Shenandoah, she set a new bar with 16 kills on a .317 hitting percentage, while diving out for a career-high six digs and a career-high three block assists ... Hannah Krauss paced St. Mary's with 14 kills and four block assists while adding 11 digs ... Salisbury junior Nicole Venturelli once again led the Sea Gulls in kills tallying double-digit kills in every match over the weekend at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational. In an exciting 3-2 win over Case Western Reserve Venturelli posted a double-double recording 16 kills, a team-high, and 10 digs while also adding four total blocks ... Codi Ziolkowski helped Wesley win all four matches on the week. In three of the four matches, she tallied double-digit kills. Ziolkowski totaled 39 kills, 10 digs and six blocks and notched a .351 hitting percentage for the week ... York junior Alexis Harbold led the Spartans to a 3-1 week and a second place finish at the 2017 York College Invitational. Harbold played in all 13 sets and led the team with 5.46 digs per set. For the season, Harbold leads the CAC in total digs with 286 while she also fifth in total service aces (24).
