Mary Washington Clinches Top Seed in CAC Volleyball Tournament; Top Four Seeds Locked Up

Mary Washington swept St. Mary's 3-0 on Wednesday to lock up the top seed in the upcoming CAC Volleyball Tournament. Christopher Newport, York and Frostburg State also secured mid-week CAC victories in the conference regular season finales for four squads. 

UMW improved to 6-0 in CAC play with the win, and secured the No. 1 seed and homecourt advantage in the eight-team CAC Tournament, which begins next Tuesday, Oct. 30. 

Seeds No. 2-4 were also solidifed following Wednesday's action, with Christopher Newport (6-1) claiming the No. 2 seed, York (4-3) collecting the No. 3 seed and Southern Virginia (4-3) earning the No. 4 seed. The top four seeds will each host quarterfinal matches next Tuesday. 

Two CAC regular season contests remain, which will determine seed No. 5-8 in the tournament. Salisbury (2-4) travels to Frostburg State (2-4) on Friday for a showdown for fifth place, while Mary Washington hosts Penn State Harrisburg (1-5) on Saturday.
