Six CAC Volleyball Standouts Achieve AVCA All-Region Status
CAC -- The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced on Thursday that six Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) volleyball players have been named to the AVCA All-East Region team.
Christopher Newport landed three individuals on the all-region team with CAC Player & Rookie of the Year freshman setter Sammy Carroll leading the Captains to the 2019 CAC crown. She was joined by teammates senior middle blocker Riley Garrison and senior outside hitter Katie Piper who earned her the second all-region nod of her career.
Meanwhile, CAC runner-ups Mary Washington had two standouts honored with senior outside hitter Peyton Dunow and CAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year senior right side Savannah Powers earned her second all-region nod.
Rounding out the conference contigent recognized was Salisbury senior libero Hailey Dougherty who was named to the Honorable Mention team. Dougherty collected CAC Defensive Player of the Year accolades for the Sea Gulls.
