CAC -- The Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) has announced its weekly awards following the seventh week of the 2019 women's volleyball season. Christopher Newport junior right side Megan O'Hara earned CAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades, while CNU senior outside hitter Katie Crofford claimed CAC Defensive Player of the Week honors.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Megan O'Hara - Christopher Newport

In a 2-1 week for Christopher Newport, Megan O'Hara led the way on offense with 25 kills (2.27/set) on a 32.8% hitting percentage. She added on five total blocks. In a 3-0 victory over St. Mary's, O'Hara tallied seven kills (.357), a block, and a dig. She posted six kills (.385), a dig, and a block in a 3-0 win over St. Mary's. O'Hara finished off the week with a 12-kill (.300) effort on Saturday afternoon in addition to two digs and three blocks against Stockton.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Katie Crofford - Christopher Newport

In a 2-1 week for Christopher Newport, Katie Crofford collected her 1,000th career dig en route to 34 kills (3.09/set) on a 30.9% hitting percentage along with 32 digs (2.91/set), an ace, and four total blocks. Crofford tallied 13 kills on a .526 hitting percentage to go with an assist, an ace, eight digs, and one block in a 3-0 win over St. Mary's. She racked up six kills (.357), five digs and two blocks as part of a 3-0 defeat of Salisbury. She finished off the week with a double-double of 15 kills, 19 digs, and one block against Stockton.

LEAGUE NOTES

Salisbury sophomore Amanda Chew totaled 43 kills, 27 digs, seven blocks and five service aces across three matches over the past week. Chew recorded her 10th double-double of the season in a five-set win on Wednesday over York. Chew continues to lead the CAC in total kills (306) and kills per set (3.92)...Hailey Dougherty tallied 63 total digs across three matches last week. Dougherty tallied a team-best 26 digs in a five-set win on Wednesday over York. Dougherty continues to lead the conference in total digs (408) and digs per set (5.23)...Mary Washington senior Peyton Dunow recorded a double-double with 12 kills and 12 digs in a CAC victory over Southern Virginia, and scored 11 kills with just one error in a CAC win over York this week. In four total matches, she scored 37 kills with 12 service aces, 28 digs, and five total blocks...Southern Virginia freshman Emma Steiger held the backline for the Knights collecting a career-high 34 digs against the Generals for an impressive 11.33 digs per set clip. She totaled 60 digs for the week as the Knights went 2-2 while also tallying 10 service aces and eight assists on the offensive end.
