VOLLEYBALL

Riley Garrison | Christopher Newport | Jr. | MB

Ashburn, Va. | Briar Woods

Garrison collected back-to-back Player of the Week honors after continuing to start on the defensive end for the 23rd-ranked Captains, including a historic performance at Catholic on Friday. Against the Cardinals, she equaled CNU's single-match program record with 12 blocks. Only four Captains have ever reached that total, and Garrison is the first to do it twice after also collecting a dozen rejections against York on Oct. 27, 2017. Additionally, Garrison clubbed 14 kills while hitting .684 against Catholic. With that effort, she became the second Captain ever to record at least 12 kills and 12 blocks in a single match. Rounding out her week, Garrison also notched nine blocks in a league victory at Penn State Harrisburg on Thursday before driving home nine kills to go along with five more rejections on Friday against Lynchburg. Overall, Garrison averaged 2.17 blocks per set while posting 28 kills and a .400 hitting percentage during the week.
