Mary Washington junior KRISTY WITEK (Fairfax, Va./Chantilly) was selected as the CAC Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the second time this season after placing fifth overall and leading the Eagles to second place in the team standings at the Battle of the Buggy in Lancaster (Pa.) County Park, hosted by Elizabethtown College. Witek covered the course in 26:12 and was the top CAC finisher in the race.

York senior MELODY PARSHALL (Dover, Pa./Homeschooled) was selected as the CAC Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the second-straight week and the third time this season after placing sixth overall at the Hood Open. Parshall, the first CAC runner across the finish line, covered the 6,000-meter course in 25:46.28 and led the Spartans to third place in the team standings. She has been YCP’s top finisher in every race this season.

York senior MELODY PARSHALL (Dover, Pa./Homeschooled) was selected as the CAC Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the second time this season after picking up her first individual win of the season and leading the Spartans to the team title at the Goucher Invitational. Parshall, who has been YCP’s top finisher in all five races this season and has five Top 10 finishes to her credit in 2009, broke the tape in the 6,000-meter chase in 25:40.19.

Wesley freshman TRISTIN BURRIS (Camden, Del./Polytech) was selected as the CAC Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week after success as a double-duty competitor for the Wolverines this weekend. Sandwiched in between a pair of field hockey games Friday and Sunday (where she scored a goal in a loss at Gwynedd-Mercy), Burris placed fourth individually and was just 18 seconds out of second place in the Goldey-Beacom Invitational. She crossed the finish line in her first collegiate race in 22:25, fourth place overall and one of the 10 fastest times in school history.

Salisbury junior KRISTIN STROMBERG (Hampstead, Md./Delone Catholic, Pa.) was selected as the CAC Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the second time this season after crossing the finish line 12th overall in the 13-team Don Cathcart Invitational at Salisbury. Stromberg’s time of 23:21 on the 5,920-meter course helped the Sea Gulls place fourth in the team standings.

Parshall’s time of 21:27.09 beat 62 of the other 63 runners in the race and the Spartans, who placed all five scorers among the top15 in the chase.
