Lynn O'Dell Selected As Men's And Women's Cross Country Coach At St. Mary's

Scott Devine, the director of Athletics and Recreation at St. Mary's College of Maryland, announced Thursday morning that Lynn O'Dell has been named the second head coach of the Seahawk men's and women's cross country programs. O'Dell is no stranger to St. Mary's County as she has served as a physical education and health teacher in the St. Mary's County Public School System for the past 19 years.

York senior Mandy Parshall (Dover, Pa./Home schooled) became the first Spartan to win the CAC Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Year award by crossing the finish line first, and Marymount freshman Jessica Daley (Oak Hill, Va./Oakton) became the second Saint to win the CAC Rookie of the Year by finishing second at the 2010 conference championship meet Saturday at Salisbury, Md.

Salisbury placed five runners among the top 36 across the finish line to rank as the top CAC team at the annual Don Cathcart women's cross country race, but the battle for the top individual CAC runner went to Frostburg State's Anne Patron, who edged Mary Washington's Liz Green by just one second.

Frostburg State University is the newest member of the Capital Athletic Conference, and one of the top women's distance runners in team history is junior Anne Patron, this week's CAC INTRODUCING ... featured student-athlete. Patron is the school record holder in the 5,000-meter run and earned all-conference and all-region during the 2009 cross country season.

In addition to incoming freshmen and transfers this season, the Capital Athletic Conference cross country season features three new coaches and two second-year coaches. What likely wont change is that every team and individual will be chasing Mary Washington and Salisbury in the team standings and for individual all-conference honors.

The York College athletic department is pleased to announce the hiring of Erick Camodeca as the head coach of the men’s and women’s cross country and track & field programs. Camodeca, who has been at the helm of the men’s track & field squad for the previous three campaigns, becomes the school’s seventh full-time head coach.
