Salisbury Athletic Department To Honor Sea Gulls April 6 As Part Of National Student-Athlete Day

The Salisbury University Athletics Department is set to host a special tribute for all Sea Gull student-athletes on Monday, April 6, out at Sea Gull Stadium at 11 a.m. as part of National Student-Athlete Day.

SU's Athletics Department has organized an event to thank and congratulate all student-athletes, athletic trainers and coaches on their respective achievements during the 2008-09 school year.

The department is asking all current SU student-athletes, athletic trainers and coaches to report to Sea Gull Stadium at 11 a.m. for a group photo on the field around the SU logo. Everyone attending should wear a maroon or gold shirt. Afterwards, SU Director of Athletics and Recreation Dr. Michael Vienna will address the gathered group.

SU faculty and staff members are encouraged to stop by during the event to congratulate the student-athletes, athletic trainers and coaches on their success during their respective athletic seasons.

National Student-Athlete Day has been celebrated annually April 6 since 1987 as it is America's day to celebrate outstanding student-athletes who have achieved excellence in academics and athletics while having made significant contributions to the community. It is also a time to recognize those parents, teachers, coaches and school systems which make it possible for young people to find the balance between academics and athletics.
