Field Hockey earns three NFHCA All-Americans

MANAHAWKIN, N.J. — Honoring the outstanding accomplishments of the 2024 season, the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) is delighted to announce 48 Division III student-athletes as the 2024 NFHCA All-Americans, sponsored by Apex Field Hockey.

The Salisbury University field hockey team saw three student-athletes earn All-American honors. Marli McDorman led the way, earning First Team honors, Arden Hunteman tallied Second Team honors, and Abbey McIlvain earned Third Team honors.

Sophomore Marli McDorman, the Pocomoke City, Md. native, became the 21st Sea Gull field hockey player to be named Conference Player of the Year this season while earning 10 goals with nine assists to tally 29 total points on the year. She put more than half her shot attempts on goal earning a .638 shot-on-goal percentage and earned two game-winning goals.

Sophomore Arden Hunteman, the Annapolis, Md. native, led the Sea Gull attack with 17 goals and added two assists. Hunteman also became the school record holder for goals in a game when she tallied five at Catholic. She also netted four in a game against Washington College (Md.). Hunteman started all 20 games for SU earning a .759 shot-on-goal percentage and three game-winning goals.

Junior Abbey McIlvain, the Newark, Del. native, started all 20 games in the cage for SU posting a 17-3 record. She posted eight shutout wins on the season with 63 saves while earning a .863 save percentage which was tied for the best in the nation. She also earned the 2024-25 NCAA Division III statistical champion for Goals Against Average.

The Sea Gulls finished the season at 17-3 overall, reaching a 39th overall and 30th consecutive NCAA Tournament while making the semis for the 16th time in program history and first time since 2019.
