Jahn Hines Named First Team All-District by National Association of Basketball Coaches

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Christopher Newport University senior Jahn Hines was named first team All-District Tuesday morning by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). The All-District honors are voted on by NABC-member coaches across Division III.

Hines, a product of Norview High School in Norfolk, led the Captains this year to a 24-7 record and the round of eight in the NCAA Tournament. The two-time All-American averaged a team-high 15.5 points per game as well as 5.2 rebounds per contest. Hines led the team in scoring in 12 games, and scored a career-high 39 points in CNU's victory at Berry College on New Year's Day. In addition to his scoring prowess, Hines also led the Captains in assists (79) and steals (44).

The Captains saw their season come to an end on Saturday, falling at Guilford College, 50-48, in the round of eight of the NCAA Tournament. CNU beat Williams College on Friday at Guilford, and Hines topped the Captains in scoring in both games, producing 14 points vs. Williams and 17 vs. Guilford.

Hines this season was selected the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference's Player of the Year for the second time in his career, and was also a member of the C2C's All-Tournament team. He was voted the Player of the Week four times this season, more than any other player.

One of the most dynamic scorers in CNU history, Hines moved into 11th place on the school's all-time scoring list this season. In 94 career games, he scored 1,509 points for a career average of 16.1 points per game.

Hines was previously honored by the NABC as a third team All-American following his sophomore season. His accolades also include a second team All-America selection by D3hoops.com before the start of the 2023-24 season. He was also voted fourth team All-America by the website following his junior season that helped produce the first-ever National Championship for the Captains. Hines led the Captains as a junior, averaging 17.2 points per game, and became just the 34th player in CNU history to go over the 1,000-point mark.
