The University of Mary Washington's men's soccer goal keeper
Freddy Rogers was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-American Third Team in a release from the CSC on Wednesday afternoon.
Rogers, who's maintained a 3.82 grade-point-average and is a marketing major, becomes just the 13th student-athlete in the athletic department's history to be named to a CoSIDA/CSC All-American team and is the first since 2016.
The 2024 season was a success to say the least for Rogers and the Eagles, who were ranked the No. 1 team in the nation for the majority of the year. Rogers recorded a 19-2-2 record in net -- which is tied for the second most wins in a single season in program history -- as well as a 19-1-2 record against NCAA Div. III opponents.
Rogers started all 23 games in net for UMW, playing in over 2,000 minutes this season. He recorded 63 saves and nine shutouts, while being named the 2024 Coast-to-Coast Defensive Player of the Year.
